About Michelle

Michelle Sous was born on April 13,1995. She is the beloved daughter of Dr. Manal Sous and Mamdouh Emil Sous, and younger sister to Maryann Sous. She was a dear member of the congregation of St. Antonious & St. Mina Coptic Orthodox Church in East Rutherford, NJ and a high school senior at Hawthorne Christian Academy before she was struck and killed crossing the street on St. Patrick's Day in 2013. She was crossing the street in front of her house to meet her sister so they could both attend Bible study at church that evening.

As her family and friends attest, Michelle saw the true, beautiful aspects in people. She saw the grand scheme of things, and never spent time worrying because she knew better. Michelle was  always honest, and said what was on her mind. She was loving and committed to people. No matter what the adventure was, you could count on her to embark it with you.

Michelle cherished her Coptic Egyptian Christian heritage, and never judged others. She treated everyone the same.

Michelle was very intelligent and loved to learn. Not only that, but she helped anyone out who had academic troubles or needed help with their homework. She had big dreams to fulfill. She was a high achiever and had been accepted into a seven year medical program for college. Michelle believed in empowering youth and in community service, and was always looking for ways to serve others throughout her life.

We honor her life and her spirit and continue to build her legacy through the Michelle Sous Foundation.
